Polinet
Our centuries-old political system was created during a horse and cart era, when we had a much slower, smaller population, but since then we’ve evolved rapidly with technological advancements like the telegraph, combustion engine, computers, the internet and smartphones.
So, how can a political system as old as ours possibly be expected to keep up and cope with current issues?
It can’t, but what choice do we have?
It is increasingly obvious that our archaic political system is either broken or is no longer fit for purpose, with the parties struggling to operate under such an outdated system, they no longer represent the peoples wishes, they can’t hear us.
Politics that pendulum from Right to Left and back again rarely have the chance to move forward, so we are anchored in the past by tradition.
This, along with the influence of the press, the lobbyists and the party donors, they have all chipped away at the foundations of our democracy.
It feels like no matter who gets voted into government, nothing really changes, the cast may change but the show and theatre remain the same…
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
Albert Einstein
These days checking apps on a phone is a part of life, so isn’t it time to upgrade our political system with an up-to-date interface, a more 21st century approach to the vintage way we deal with our national issues.
Politics influence our lives on many levels, it’s time to put our government where it should be, right there in our hands, giving us the power to make a real change.
How?
